Wild nature
is a term that expresses the state of nature that is not affected by human activity, whether in terms of planting, mining or other human activity. Examples include the rainforests in the Amazon and, in our country, Boubin and, in Slovakia, the Vlčí private reserve.
Captive.
Zoos seem to provide an interesting benefit for captive animals. A team of scientists tracked a total of fifty mammal species in different zoos across the world. It turns out that more than eighty percent of them live to a higher age than their relatives in the wild behind bars and in enclosures.
Critics point out that animals confined to their enclosures suffer when they are not in their natural habitat.
Zoo advocates, on the other hand, argue that zoos are often a last resort to save a species from extinction.
