The hospital in Kuks was founded by Count František Antonín Špork at the beginning of the 18th century as a resting place for retired soldiers who were cared for by the Order of the Merciful Brothers. It is an important Baroque monument, the design of which was created by world-class artists, especially the architect Giovanni Batista Alliprandi and the sculptor Matthias Bernard Braun. The grounds of the Kuks Hospital are famous for the monumental Church of the Holy Trinity, the cycle of murals of the Dance of Death, the allegories of the Virtues and the Vices and one of the oldest pharmacies - the Pomegranate.
