Hospital Kuks (2021)

can be found in the village of the same name Kuks near the town of Jaroměř. At the beginning of the 18th century, František Antonín Špork (Sporck - 1662 - 1738) built spa buildings with a chateau and a manor house in the picturesque Elbe valley, thanks to the healing spring that flowed here.

Broumov Monastery

is an impressive complex designed by K. I. Dientzenhofer, but the origins of the monastery date back to the beginning of the 13th century. 

The Abbey (monastery) Church of St. Vojtěch, rebuilt from its original Gothic form into a Baroque church, or the sacristy with rare inlaid furniture. Do not forget to visit the famous local gymnasium, where the first Czech archbishop Arnošt of Pardubice, the patriot Bohuslav Balbín and the writer Alois Jirásek studied.

The monastery library has around 17 000 volumes of books. 

In 1999, a unique copy of the Shroud of Turin from 1651 (a decal of the cloth in which the body of Jesus Christ was wrapped shortly after the crucifixion, after it was taken down from the cross) was found in a wooden box in the Abbey (monastery) Church of St. Vojtěch above the Chapel of the Holy Cross behind a gilded stucco wreath with the inscription Sancta Sindon. The Shroud was accompanied by a document which shows that the Shroud was given in 1651 by the Archbishop of Turin, Julius Caesar Bergiria, to the Abbot of St Nicholas in Prague's Old Town, Matúš Ferdinand Sobek of Bílenberk. During his lifetime he donated it to the Broumov monastery.

Kunětická Hora

is a characteristic dominant of the eastern Bohemian Polabí region, which was formed by the Tertiary activity of the Earth. On the basis of archaeological excavations, it can be said today that a large castle complex stood on Kunětice Mountain in the second half of the 14th century at the latest. It was a castle with a palace and a prismatic, originally residential tower in the eastern part of the complex, and a defensive cylindrical tower in the western part of the complex (the foundations of which have been partially preserved to this day). 

The first written mention of it dates back to June 1420, when the disgruntled people from the surrounding area gathered on Kunětická hora, to whom the priest Ambrož preached: "(...) they called the faithful to Kunětice hora above Pardubice, high and strong, where the common people and the charcoal burners were gathered in great numbers, so that they could hinder the evil and liberate the truth under both ways."

Hospital Kuks (2020)

was founded by Count František Antonín Špork at the beginning of the 18th century as a resting place for retired soldiers who were cared for by the Order of the Merciful Brothers. It is an important Baroque monument, the design of which was created by world-class artists, especially the architect Giovanni Batista Alliprandi and the sculptor Matthias Bernard Braun. The grounds of the Kuks Hospital are famous for the monumental Church of the Holy Trinity, the cycle of murals of the Dance of Death, the allegories of the Virtues and the Vices and one of the oldest pharmacies - the Pomegranate.

Hazmburk

Jan Blažej Santini Aichel

was a phenomenal and intellectual architect. Jan Blažej Santini Aichel (usually known as Santini) lived in the 17th and early 18th centuries. Born to an Italian father and Czech mother, he left a legacy of great churches and sacred buildings in Prague and throughout the Czech Republic.

Vyšehořovice Fortress

is a massive ruin of a Gothic fortress founded by the vladyka of Vyšehořovice in the middle of the 14th century located between Čelákovice and Úvaly. Today, the fortress has been preserved in massive ruins, the Gothic tower has completely disappeared, the walls of the other buildings sometimes stand up to their original height.

Forest Kingdom Reservoir

 is a valley reservoir on the Elbe River built in 1920. It is located near the Tešnov village in the cadastral area of Bílá Třemešná, 4 km upstream from Dvůr Králové nad Labem, in a narrow valley that runs through the Kocléřovský ridge. It is bordered on its left bank by the large forest complex of Království, a remnant of the old border forest after which the dam got its name.
